Danita has extensive experience working with children, teens and families. She began her career at Texas Children’s Hospital as she worked in various units include the Emergency Department where she worked with physically and sexually abused children and the Children’s Cancer Center working with newly diagnosed children and their families. She then journeyed to School Social Work as one of the founding social workers in Goose Creek Consolidated Independent School District. Additionally Danita worked for a crisis mobile assessment team for many years in completing psychiatric assessments with vulnerable populations where she ambitiously increased her clinical skills. She now works for an innovative team that treats students from local school districts who have mental health stressors. She has had a hand in helping build the program and now supervises a staff of clinicians. Danita also has a passion for diversity work in the Latine’ population and continues to enjoy her time with the National Hispanic and Latino MHTTC where she has developed school based mental health content and trainings.

Danita has earned various honors over her professional career which include the honorable mention award for the Texas School Social Worker of the Year, the national Professional of the Year award for her sorority, the National Hispanic Professional Organization Larry Payne Servant Leader of the Year award and was named as one of the Top 20 Latino Leaders of Houston for Latino Leaders Magazine.

Danita is excited to provide therapy and clinical supervision through Toci Counseling & Consulting, PLLC. She has extensive training in various modalities that include Dialectical Behavior Therapy Skills, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Trauma and Grief Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Brainspotting.
